HELLO OUT THERE!!!

HELLO OUT THERE!!!! Remember me? I hope you do!

I've decided, after a long hiatus, to start up Vegan
on Stage once again.
Ive really missed connecting with you all. Not only is it nice to be able to post my feelings and thoughts about my food choices, but it also keeps me focused on my goals.
During my recent Rockette season, I reintroduced some dairy products into my diet... Mostly just greek yogurt, and cheese here and there. I found it really difficult to find foods that would fill me, without making me feel full right before a show (if that makes sense) I was eating a lot of greek yogurt, and although it is ridiculously yummy, I
have decided that it isnt right for my body.

So once again, I am going to use my blog to get myself back on track!

For Christmas, my mom got me a Polar Heart rate monitor!
Im absolutely obsessed with it. Not only is it cute and green, but it really helps me keep track of what I'm burning and what my heart rate is.

Today I took a spin class with my mom, and then did an upper body lift.

Average Heart Rate:147
High Heart Rate: 170
Calories burned:750
Time lapsed: 2 hrs

Ok with all of that working out... it was time for dinner...and what better way to celebrate my re-entry into the blogosphere than:

1 small onion peeled and quartered
1 LARGE clove of garlic (or two small)
1 can of black beans
1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/2 cup cooked brown rice
1 teaspoon Chilie powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 tspn salt
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/8 cup whole wheat flour.

preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Put onion and garlic into my boyfriend (foodprocessor) and chop.
rinse beans and put them into a medium sized bowl and mash.(le
ave slightly chunky.. a little chunkier than refried beans)
add onion mixture and stirr.
add the remaining ingredients and Stir well.

Spray a nonstick cookie sheet with pam or lightly oil

make about 6 patties and spread accordingly on the cookie sheet.

Bake for 15 minutes (or until crispy and brown). take out and turn
...cook for another 15 minutes.

ok friends!!!! thats all for now :)

xoxo Syn*

Actually, just came across your blog for the first time, but look forward to future posts. I just started a blog as a 2010 goal, as well. Glad to hear that you're back on the vegan track. Good luck!

this Christmas the kids and I made it to Ny for the first time and saw "your" spectacular. I havent had that much fun in forever. I was like a little kid sitting on the edge of his seat. the highlight of our week for sure.
I told the kids about some of your recipes we would try...while not a vegan...we need to eat healthier.
If sometimes you get worn out...try to remember the joy you bring to others...this was a Christmas we will talk about for years to come.

Not sure if you still update this but I just came across your blog! Are your shoes vegan too that you wear as a rockette? I am a vegan actor and I am curious about how others navigate costumes and performing in relation to veganisgm. Please feel free to e-mail me at jenni.rempel [at] gmail [dot] com
